Shinshu Distillery
信州蒸留所 / Shinshū Jōryū-sho
Often, there are many fond memories, which accompany a closed distillery. Shinshu closed its doors on whisky distillation in 1994 and have slowly been selling off their remaining 100 casks. Which of course is a shame, as the whisky, often bottled as ‘Komogatake’ faired well when paired next to its contemporaries. There are still a few single cask bottlings out there, which are well worth tracking down. The great news is that Shinshu (owned by Hombo Spirits) is to rise from the ashes with a refit instigated late last year and distillation planned to begin in spring 2011.
Unfortunately we currently have no stock of products from this distillery due to it either being closed down, or their products are very rare for us to get our hands on some. The above distillery description is for informational purposes.
